Brandon's path from a curious child immersed in the world of whiskey distilleries to the master distiller at Connecticut Distilling is as unique as the spirits we craft. His time tending bar at a whiskey haven in college not only deepened his appreciation for the myriad styles of whiskeys from across the globe but also set the stage for a remarkable fusion of science and artistry. With a Master’s Degree in Chemistry and a 13-year tenure as a Protein Crystallographer in the pharmaceutical industry, Brandon's scientific expertise is matched only by his dedication to the art of distillation.
The epiphany came during his tenure at Black Hog Brewing Co., where Brandon's innovative spirit saw him recapture and repurpose materials from the brewing process that would otherwise go unused. This sustainable approach not only echoes the traditional roots of whiskey-making, where all whiskey begins its life as beer, but also introduces a modern twist by offering a second life to these components, transforming them into exceptional and unique spirits.

Distillery Manager
Dimitrios Zahariadis, the distillery manager at Connecticut Distilling, is a pivotal figure in the craft spirits industry. Born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut, Dimitrios has been a significant force in pioneering the craft cocktail movement within the state. His journey in the beverage industry is marked by a blend of passion, innovation, and dedication.
Dimitrios is well-known for founding The Cocktail Chemist Bev Co., which gained acclaim for its high-quality, ready-to-drink cocktails. This venture found a permanent home in Connecticut's newest craft distillery in 2024, allowing him to bring his expertise and creative vision to Connecticut Distilling.
With over 30 years of experience in the beverage industry, Dimitrios has a reputation for meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to sustainable practices. His role at Connecticut Distilling involves overseeing the Tasting Lounge and the cocktails served at the distillery, as well as helping Master Distiller Brandon Collins oversee production.
Dimitrios's contributions extend beyond the distillery floor. He has also been involved in various educational initiatives, sharing his knowledge and passion for craft spirits with the broader community. His leadership and vision continue to drive Connecticut Distilling forward, ensuring that each product not only meets but exceeds industry standards.
